Pups on Parole

The Pups on Parole program is a partnership between the Jasper County Animal Rescue League and Newton Correctional Facility. The dogs that participate in this program reside in the Correctional Release Center at the Newton Correctional Facility for eight weeks, with an assigned handler. During this time the dogs learn some basic commands and life skills. The skills that are focused on are basic commands, kennel training, loose leash walking, and potty training.

This program is a great partnership that gives homeless dogs an opportunity to get out of the shelter and receive training to become better adoption candidates; it also gives the inmates an opportunity to help an animal in need and participate in a program that is very fulfilling.
