Caring Friends Foster Program

By providing temporary homes, foster volunteers help those animals that aren't ready to be placed for adoption due to lack of socialization, age, weight, injury or illness.  By providing individual love and care, these animals are able to flourish in an environment away from the shelter setting and eventually find their forever homes.  Foster periods vary, but the impact on the foster volunteer and the pet will last a lifetime.

All potenial foster homes must fill out a volunteer application and foster care application. Once these are on file, the director will contact them and schedule a home inspection. If they are fostering cats, the foster cats MUST be housed in a room separate from any resident pets. All resident pets must be current on all vaccinations. The Jasper County Animal Rescue League and Humane Society will provide food, litter (if cats are being fostered), and medical care for the animal(s) while they are in foster care. All the foster home needs to provide is a space in their home, love, and care!

The Jasper County Animal Rescue League and Humane Society will be responsible for choosing the animals that need to be in foster care.  Foster homes will be checked once a week, and homes will need to be reinspected by a staff member from the league once every six months.

If you are interested in becoming a foster volunteer...thank you!  If you have additional questions, please contact the shelter for more information (641) 792-5407.  Volunteer and foster care  applications can be obtained by visiting the shelter.
