Abuse/Neglect Report

JCARL  Animal Control Officers (ACO) respond to reports of cruelty and abuse within the Jasper County area.   Some cases may be due to a lack of knowledge on the owners part.  In these instances, the ACO will attempt to educate the owner on his or her legal responsibilities.  In situations where more extreme abuse or neglect are concerned, our ACOs will make every attempt to resolve the situation.   As a last resort, they are authorized by the state of Iowa to remove an animal from a dangerous situation.

When making a report, be prepared to provide the following:

• The nature of the complaint (i.e., dog tethered outside without food or water)
• A description of the animal(s)
• The exact address of where the animal(s) can be found. Be specific about street, avenue, north, south, east or west.
• The town or city of the address
• A number where you can be reached for questions

All reports are kept confidential.   You do not have to leave contact information to make a report.
