If you've lost a pet please call us at (641) 792-5407 or stop by the shelter during our normal hours of operation. If a pet has an ID tag or a microchip we will make all reasonable efforts to contact the owner.
Helpful hints for finding a lost pet:

Contact local veterinarians. Some may have "Lost & Found" bulletin boards in their offices.

Search the "Lost & Found" section of your local newspaper.

Notify family members and friends who are familiar with your pet.

Look for flyers and post flyers (if permitted).

Dont' give up! Some pets are found after months of searching.
One of the main reasons that pets will stray is that they haven't been spayed or neutered. Spaying or neutering will eliminate your pets reproductive instincts and will help us in our goal of reducing overpopulation in our county and shelter.
Reclaim Fees:
If your pet is picked up during normal business hours, there will be a $35.00 reclaim fee for the first day, and $10.00 for every day thereafter that the pet was boarded with us.
If your pet was picked up after normal business hours, the fee is $50.00 for the first day and $10.00 for every day thereafter.
All animals are vaccinated and dewormed upon intake. Additionally, they are provided food, water, shelter and in some cases veterinary care during their stay. These are expenses that add to the burden of trying to keep our doors open.
Please note that any dog not reclaimed after 7 days will become the property of Jasper County Animal Rescue League & Humane Society. Cats are held for 3 days.
